REVIEW – Tyrrells Crisps

Hi my name is Sharmaine and I like chips.
There, it’s out in the open before we start.



It had to be said because when I saw a call
For someone to review a “new to Australia” brand of chips
My taste buds got the better of me!!
So let’s start with a little get to know you question.
Chips or crisps??
I find it hard to get my tongue to say crisps.
That tongue had enjoyed chips for way to long to convert!



Is there even a difference between chips & crisps??
A quick google and you will find that it’s about origin.
A google search will also have you pondering (and salivating)
What shape a chip is meant to have.
What style of chip do you like?
The crinkle cut? The thin cut? or a thick, chunky cut?
Are you all about the seasoning??
What flavour do you favour??



Tyrrells have been making crisps for quite sometime in the UK,
Herefordshire to be precise.
They may seem to be just like any other chip but they ain’t
(said in my best English accent!).
Firstly, the potato variety  is very important
And on each packet you will find the variety of spud printed,
Along with the region it came from.
I found that P.R.E.T.T.Y. cool!
Secondly, each packet is full of hand cooked goodness.
No other chip in Australia can brag about being so well looked after!
Thirdly, the varieties are very cool.
Lightly Sea Salted, Sea Salt & Cider Vinegar,
Sea Salt & Cracked Black Pepper, Mature Cheddar & Chives,
Sunday Best Roast Chicken and Sweet Chilli & Red Pepper.



And finally, fourth of all…. HOW COOL IS THE PACKAGING??!!!
Oh my!
I smiled so broadly when I saw the fun pictures that were printed on each packet!
The crafter in me saw amazing possibilities
And can’t wait to add some packaging to my art journal pages!



Ok, focus…
Back to the chips/crisps!
Each flavour was a delicate blend of yum.
My favourite was the sea salt & cider vinegar.
The chips tasted just like cider vinegar and were delicious.
The kids all seemed to like the sweet chilli & red pepper,
Which was a mild flavour rather than a full mouthful of heat.
We ate the chips while we had family over for dinner
So there were lots of comments about who liked what flavour.
I think the cracked black pepper may have won in the adult palette stakes .
