REVIEW - Pic’s Peanut Butter

There is a new kid on the block.
The Peanut Butter block that is.
It’s nutty and it is delicious.
It is also well travelled.

Made in New Zealand and using Australian Nuts
Pic’s Peanut Butter tastes the way peanut butter should.
Oh and when the label says “Really Good”
What it really means is… it really is GOOD!

Made from just roasted peanuts and a dash of sea salt,
(there is a no salt version too),
The first thing you notice is the taste.
Yeah I can hear you say DER OF COURSE
BUT…
The taste isn’t like your a-typical peanut butter.
It’s better.
Why is it better?
Because what you taste is peanut butter.
It really does taste like peanuts.
It doesn’t taste like peanuts and something else.
It tastes like peanuts.

Give me a good peanut butter
And I will give to you a good satay chicken.

SATAY CHICKEN (to feed my hungry satay-lovin’ family of 6)

7 chicken thighs, cut into bite size (or there about) pieces.
As many vegetables as I could pull from the fridge
1 Onion, chopped
2 teaspoons crushed garlic
1/2 cup Pic’s Crunchy Peanut Butter
2 tablespoons red curry paste
2 teaspoons soy sauce
2 tomatoes (roughly chopped)
1 can light coconut cream.

Cook onion in a little oil, till translucent.
Add garlic and chicken. Cook till chicken is brown.
Stir in peanut butter, soy sauce and curry paste.
Make sure it doesn’t stick to the bottom of your wok/frying pan.
Once the chicken is coated
Add the vegetables and coconut cream.
Stir these through.
Cook till the vegetables are how you like them
(soft or crunchy… you choose).
Toss in tomatoes, stir through.
Serve with rice or similar.
We had cauliflower rice.

The other thing I should mention is the packaging.
Why?
Because it’s not a-typical either!
It is funny and informative.
You will get ideas on how to recycle the jar, on their blog,
Which is glass not plastic (that gets a tick from me too!).
AND (if that wasn’t enough) make sure you check out the label.
I won’t give it away but
You need to buy a jar of Pic’s
Empty it
(probably not in one sitting, unless you have a big spoon!)
When it’s empty
Pour some hot water into the jar
The glue, holding the label, will then loosen.
Now check out the back of the label.
Nope, still not giving you hints as to what you will find.
But you need to do it.
As for me…
I am now craving a toasted peanut butter and banana sandwich!

Pic’s 380g glass jars of peanut butter
is available from your local Coles supermarket,
as well as independent retailers across Australia RRP $7.50.
You can also order online for international sales.
